HTC U12 Plus with four cameras, squeezable sides launched

NEW DELHI: After months of rumours, leaks and teasers, HTC has finally lifted the lid from its
HTC U12 Plus smartphone. The handset, being considered as the Taiwanese tech firm’s flagship smartphone of 2018, comes with a slew of upgrades and as many as four cameras in total.The smartphone is already up for pre-orders in the US at $799 for the 64GB storage model and $849 for the 128GB storage model. In Europe, the handset costs EUR 799 and EUR 699 for the same variants. There is no word on when the device will be reaching the Indian shores. The HTC U12+ will be arriving in three colour variants – Translucent Blue, Ceramic Black and Flame Red.

Running Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, the HTC U12+ features a 6-inch QHD+ (2880×1440 pixels) Super LCD 6 display with 18:9 aspect ratio and without a notch. The display also has HDR 10 support and a pixel density of 537ppi. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor clocked at up to 2.8GHz along with 6GB RAM.

There is a dual rear camera setup that includes a 12MP wide-angle primary sensor with HTC UltraPixel 4 tech and f/1.75 aperture along with a secondary 16MP telephoto camera with f/2.6 aperture. Some of the camera features included are UltraSpeed Autofocus 2, HDR Boost 2, OIS, Bokeh mode, dual LED flash and more. At the front, there are dual 8MP sensors with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree field of view. The smartphone can record 4K resolution videos at 60fps and full-HD slow motion videos at 240fps.

Dual-SIM supporting HTC has brought its Edge Sense 2 in U12+ as well. This means you can ‘squeeze’ the side bezels of the device to activate certain features. It also comes with support for a microSD card and IP68. Backed by a 3500mAh battery, the handset supports Quick Charge 3.0 and is claimed to charge up to 50% in 35 minutes.
