Vivo V9 with ‘FullView’ display, 24MP selfie camera launched at Rs 22,990

NEW DELHI: Vivo, as widely expected, has launched its latest offering in India in the form of the Vivo V9 smartphone. The device is being touted by the Chinese tech firm for its selfie camera experience among other features. The Rs 22,990 smartphone will be made available on Amazon India, said the company executives at the launch event in Mumbai.

Interested buyers can pre-order the Vivo V9 (Sapphire Blue, Pearl Black and Gold colour variants) starting today (March 23) at 3PM. The sales will begin from April 2. The company also used the opportunity to unveil popular Bollywood actor Aamir Khan as its new brand ambassador.

Being the successor to Vivo V7+, the V9 comes with more screen-to-body ratio and has a controversial iPhone X-like ‘notch’ on top of the display. It has a 6.3-inch IPS LCD ‘FullView’ display with 2280 x 1080 pixels resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio, which is more than that of Samsung Galaxy S9’s 18.5:9. Vivo claims the handset to sport 90% screen-to-body ratio.

Vivo V9 runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system skinned with FunTouch OS and supports dual SIM card as well. At the back, there is a rear camera and a fingerprint sensor as well. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor, the V9 packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. It can also support microSD card up to 256GB.

Talking about the USP of the smartphone, the handset has a 24MP selfie camera along with f/2.0 aperture and features like portrait mode, AI enhancement, AR Stickers and others. It also has a ‘Shot Refocus’ feature using which people can refocus the subject after taking the image.

There is a 16MP (f/2.0 aperture) and a 5MP (f/2.2 aperture) rear camera setup as well with LED flash. Powering the entire smartphone is a 3260mAh battery. It weighs 150 grams and measures 154.81 x 75.03 x 7.89mm. In terms of connectivity it offers 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
