Xiaomi is set to launch the successor of last year’s Mi Mix aka the Mi Mix 2 today at 2PM CST, which is at 12:30 PM in Indian standard time. Just like last year — Xiaomi announced the Mi Note 2 alongside the Mi Mix. The company at the Mi Mix 2 launch event will be announcing another high-end Mi Note phone aka the Mi Note 3. The launch event is set to take place in China.
Mi Mix 2 will be a much upgraded version of the last year’s Mi Mix which was launched in October last year. The event will be live streamed on Xiaomi’s global website and on Facebook page. Interestingly, alongside the Mi Note 3 and Mi Mix 2, Xiaomi is also is talks to announce the update to Mi Notebook today at the event.
Mi Mix 2 expected specs
As teased by the company itself, Mi Mix 2 will come with bezel-less display. Mi Mix 2 is said to come with a 6.4-inch screen size like its predecessor. Reports are that the Mi Mix 2 that is said to have a near bezel-less screen will have up to 93 per cent of screen-to-body ratio like the original Mi Mix. To recall, the Mi Mix boasts a screen-to-body ratio of 91.3 per cent. Going by the display, Mi Mix 2 is expected to follow the same design strategy as the original Mi Mix. While the official teaser released by Xiaomi hint that the Mi Mix 2 will be much smaller around the chin area.
Rumours suggest that the Mi Mix 2 – which is set to launch today in China will come with all top-of-the-line machinery much like its original version. Mi Mix 2 is expected to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB of RAM and run on Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 software under-the-hood.
Mi Note 3 expected specs
Alongside the Mi Mix 2, Xiaomi is also expected to announce the Mi Note 3 today. Xiaomi’s co-founder Lin Bin posted a teaser image of the Mi Note 3 a few days ago. The poster reveals that the upcoming Mi Note 3 will be a larger version of the recently announced flagship phone the Mi 6. Going by the teaser, Mi Note 3, the successor of the last year’s Mi Note 2, will come in three colours — two shades of blue and the third one will be black.

A video teaser of the Mi Note 3 was also released online. The video suggests that the Note device – just like the Mi Mix 2 will come with a bezel-less screen. Ahead of the launch, Mi Note 3 has been subjected to several leaks and rumours which also suggested that the device will boast a bezel-less design. Mi Note 3 is also expected to come with a dual camera set-up.
Mi Note 3 is rumoured to come with a 5.7-inch QHD curved AMOLED display. The device is tipped to come in two variants — 6GB of RAM/ 128GB storage and the second one will be a high-end one, which is expected to come with 8GB RAM/ 256GB storage. Mi Note 3 is expected to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with the latest version of MIUI 9. Rumours suggest that the Mi Note 3 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor and backed by a non-removable battery 4070mAh battery. Mi Note 3 is also said to come with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology.
Mi Mix 2, Mi Note 3 expected price
On the pricing front, rumours suggest that the Mi Note 3 with 6GB RAM will be priced around $599 which roughly translates to Rs 38,893. On the other hand, the 8GB RAM variant of the device is expected to come with a price tag of $699, which is roughly around Rs 45,333.
Mi Mix 2 is also expected to come in two variants –6GB RAM/ 128GB storage and 8GB RAM/ 256GB. The 6GB RAM variant is said to cost RMB 3,999, which is roughly around, Rs 39,461, on the other hand, the 8GB RAM version of the Mi Mix 2 is expected to cost around RMB 4,999, which roughly translates to Rs 49,329). Mi Mix 2 is tipped to come in two colour options — black and white.
