Ahead of the launch of the flagship of the year — OnePlus 5 — the company CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will get Android O update. However he didn’t mention the timeline for the update, which is actually understandable given the fact that the Android O is yet to be released by Google. Both the OnePlus 3 and 3T were announced last year with Android M operating system, and now with the coming of the new software, we are sure that the flagship phones will get major upgrades.

Pete Lau on Wednesday tweeted about the coming of Android O to last year’s OnePlus flagship phones, both OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. “A lot of you have been asking, so I’m proud to say Android O will come to OnePlus 3 and 3T,” he says. Hearing this, some OnePlus fans were overwhelmed, however, there were some who were disappointed of OnePlus 2 not getting the latest Android update.

Both OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will get major upgrades with the coming of the new software. Android O is going to bring a number of new upgrades like better battery life and also features like — streamlined notifications, autofill, picture-in-picture, improvements in the audio system, better keyboard navigation, wide-gamut color for apps, support for third-party calling apps and a lot more.

OnePlus last week announced that OnePlus 3T will be discontinued globally. However, in India it will continue to sell. Assumptions are such that this is because of the coming of the upcoming flagship OnePlus 5. In a report leaked earlier, OnePlus has reportedly stated the reason for discontinuing the OnePlus 3T because they want to concentrate on only one flagship at a time. However, the Chinese smartphone maker confirmed to India Today Tech that in India that it would continue selling the phone in India at least till the end of this year.

“The OnePlus 3T (both 64GB and 128GB variants) will continue to be available for purchase in India until later this year. OnePlus products and accessories are available through all three official sales channels, including, and the OnePlus Experience Store in Bangalore,” OnePlus India said in an email.

Earlier, the Chinese phone maker in a blog post stated, “This is the last call to buy the OnePlus 3T before stock runs out. Only a few devices are left in our warehouse, so purchase yours before time runs out at,” the company had previously said in a blog post.

OnePlus is concentrating on the OnePlus 5 right now, which is set to launch this summer. The company is teasing about the flagship phone almost every now and then. Recently OnePlus CEO Pete Lau tweeted that the OnePlus 5 will come with Qualcomm’s latest processor Snapdragon 835. Further, company co-founder Carl Pei confirmed that the device will come packed with fingerprint sensor at the front. In another report, the company confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 5 would come with dual cameras at the back, which India Today Tech had reported almost a month ago.
